Wind Pumps

It is important to match the characteristics of the pump and the wind machine. Piston pumps need high wind speed to start. Once the rotor is turning, the torque requirement decreases because of the momentum of the revolving rotor. The wind speed can then drop to about 70% of the start-up wind speed.

Wind pumps have to be strong and ridgid. Low quality products cannot withstand the high forces of occasional storms.

Skilled labour is required for the installation.
