The wind that blows over the earth’s surface is a result of difference in air pressure. Pressure differences are the result of varying solar heating. Warm air rises and cooler air rushes in to take its place. Thus, wind is merely the movement of air from one place to another.

Wind Pumping is only possible if a borehole or a well has been constructed.

• Extracting groundwater is a very old method of providing potable water. Wind power technology dates back many centuries.
• Groundwater is stored naturally below the earth's surface. Most groundwater originates as rain or snow that seeps into the ground and collects.
• A water well is an excavation or structure created in the ground ––by digging, driving, boring or drilling to access water in underground aquifers.
• The water is drawn via a water-pumping windmill.
