Screen and First Flush Diverter
When the rain starts, the first flush should be used for cleaning the roof from dust and leaves, before water is directed into the storage place. The first flush water should be drained and only clean water used for storage.
A first flush diverter is a pipe attached to the down pipe. The first rain, carrying dirt, is diverted. Once the pipe is full clean water passes into the tank.
